Ski lifts open in Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi San Colombano

Hooray! The slopes of Bormio are finally open again this winter. The ski areas of Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi San Colombano await with over 110km of pistes!

Bormio ski area is scheduled to open on November 27 with updated COVID-19 protocols for the Winter 2021/22 season. Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain ski areas will open on December 4, 2021.

Bormio is a World Cup ski area, with technical pistes and a leg-burning height difference. But it also offers 50km sunny marked runs, a snowpark for freestyle fun and a funslope for families and children.

Santa Caterina

Santa Caterina Valfurva is ski heaven. With 35km of marked runs, but lots more space for freeride in the forests of the Stelvio National Park. It’s also the ski area of champions, with a piste dedicated to the multiple Alpine ski gold-medal winner Deborah Compagnoni.

Cima Piazzi - San Colombano

Cima Piazzi San Colombano is the family ski area. Offering easy-medium difficulty slopes, sledge runs, a family park and the first Alpine coaster in the whole of the Lombardy region.

See you on  December 4!

BORMIO SKIPASS: 1 skipass, 3 ski areas
Bormio Skipass is the lift pass that covers all three ski resorts in the area. With one pass you have access to 110km of slopes in Bormio, Santa Caterina Valfurva and Cima Piazzi San Colombano. And with this one ski pass the ski bus service between resorts is free.

Where can I buy a lift pass?

You can buy your ski pass online and pick it up at the ticket office next to the slopes.

Will I need a green pass/vaccine passport to ski?

Yes, government regulations mean that from 12 years and up it is mandatory to carry a Covid-19 vaccine passport to access the ski lifts. These measures are currently in force until 31st December 2021; the method of checking documents has not yet been confirmed.

What other anti-covid 19 containment measures are in place in ski resorts?
  • Closed lifts (cablecars, cableways, chairlifts with bubble): maximum capacity to 80% of the vehicle capacity with mandatory use of a face mask
  • Open lifts (chairlifts without bubble, ski lifts): maximum capacity at 100% of the vehicle’s capacity with mandatory use of a mask to protect the respiratory tract
  • From 12 years of age to access the ski lifts it is mandatory to be in possession of the Covid-19 green certification. Controls on the possession of the green certification can be carried out on a random basis
  • If the spreading of the virus gets more serious, a limitation on the maximum number of daily admissions will be introduced
  • Creation of routes to ensure social distancing of 1 meter at the accesses to the ticket offices and boarding lifts
If pre-booking is not required, how is it possible to avoid crowds at the ticket office?

In order to reduce queueing at the ticket office to a minimum, and in accordance with anti-covid measures, we recommend pre-ordering your lift pass via the online shop. Buying your ski pass before you arrive will mean you have access to discounted rates, can avoid queues at the ticket office and can access the slopes directly.

Ski lifts and ski gondolas are open
