375 mDocument{{en=The easiest access to Val di Rezzalo starts from Località Fumero. Shortly after Sondalo, along the SS38, take the exit for Le Prese and follow signs for Frontale, climbing the valley sides along a steep but panoramic road until reaching the small hamlet of Fumero. From there continue to Località Fontanaccia, where a basic but functional parking lot is available, the starting point of the hike.
The itinerary is also passable with a joelette, but requires good organization: the terrain is sometimes uneven and includes some challenging climbs, so it is recommended to have at least four guides.
The walk begins along a quiet dirt road that leads into a conifer forest. In autumn this section is particularly suggestive: the larches turn golden and the undergrowth takes on copper and red tones, providing a warm and silent atmosphere. Climbing, you encounter the huts of Pontela and further ahead the locality Le Gande. The valley progressively opens up and reveals its wide central basin, where at 1,850 meters is the San Bernardo plateau, dominated by the namesake alpine chapel, a true icon of Val di Rezzalo.
At the marked junction (see waypoint), it is possible to branch left along the path leading to Rifugio La Baita, an accessible facility where you can take a break and taste typical Valtellina dishes. Those who wish to continue exploring the valley can keep following the main trail, which almost levels off going further into Val di Rezzalo to the locality Merlo, equipped with a picnic area and fountain: an ideal spot for a break immersed in nature and the colors of autumn foliage.
, it=L’accesso più comodo alla Val di Rezzalo parte dalla località Fumero. Poco dopo Sondalo, lungo la SS38, si imbocca l’uscita per Le Prese e si seguono le indicazioni per Frontale, risalendo i versanti della valle lungo una strada ripida ma panoramica fino a raggiungere il piccolo nucleo di Fumero. Da qui si prosegue fino alla località Fontanaccia, dove è disponibile un parcheggio essenziale ma funzionale, punto di partenza dell’escursione.L’itinerario è percorribile anche con joelette, ma richiede una buona organizzazione: il terreno è a tratti sconnesso e presenta alcune salite impegnative, motivo per cui è consigliata la presenza di almeno quattro conduttori.
Il cammino inizia lungo una tranquilla strada sterrata che si addentra nel bosco di conifere. In autunno questo tratto è particolarmente suggestivo: i larici assumono tonalità dorate e il sottobosco si tinge di rame e rosso, regalando un'atmosfera calda e silenziosa. Salendo si incontrano le baite di Pontela e più avanti la località Le Gande. La valle progressivamente si apre e lascia spazio alla sua ampia conca centrale, dove a quota 1.850 metri si trova il pianoro di San Bernardo, dominato dall’omonima chiesetta alpina, una vera icona della Val di Rezzalo.
Al bivio segnalato (vedi waypoint), è possibile deviare a sinistra lungo il sentiero che porta al Rifugio La Baita, struttura accessibile dove concedersi una pausa e degustare piatti tipici della tradizione valtellinese. Chi desidera invece continuare l’esplorazione della valle può proseguire lungo la traccia principale, che si sviluppa quasi in piano verso l’interno della Val di Rezzalo fino alla località Merlo, dotata di area pic-nic e fontana: un luogo ideale per una sosta immersi nella natura e nei colori del foliage autunnale.
, de=Der bequemste Zugang zum Val di Rezzalo beginnt in der Località Fumero. Kurz nach Sondalo nimmt man die Ausfahrt Le Prese entlang der SS38 und folgt der Beschilderung nach Frontale, wobei man die Hänge des Tals eine steile, aber panoramareiche Straße hinauffährt, bis man den kleinen Ort Fumero erreicht. Von hier geht es weiter zur Località Fontanaccia, wo ein einfacher, aber funktionaler Parkplatz als Startpunkt der Wanderung zur Verfügung steht.Der Weg ist auch mit Joelette befahrbar, erfordert jedoch eine gute Organisation: Das Gelände ist stellenweise uneben und weist einige steile Anstiege auf, weshalb mindestens vier Begleiter empfohlen werden.
Der Weg beginnt auf einem ruhigen Schotterweg, der in den Nadelwald führt. Im Herbst ist dieser Abschnitt besonders eindrucksvoll: Die Lärchen tragen goldene Farbtöne und der Unterholz färbt sich kupfer- und rotfarben, was eine warme und ruhige Atmosphäre schafft. Beim Aufstieg trifft man auf die Hütten von Pontela und weiter oben auf die Località Le Gande. Das Tal öffnet sich nach und nach und gibt Raum für die breite zentrale Mulde, wo auf 1.850 Metern die Ebene von San Bernardo mit der namensgebenden alpinen Kapelle liegt, ein echtes Wahrzeichen des Val di Rezzalo.
An der Weggabelung (siehe Wegpunkt) kann man links zum Rifugio La Baita abzweigen, einer zugänglichen Hütte für eine Pause mit Verkostung typischer Gerichte der Valtellina-Tradition. Wer die Erkundung des Tals fortsetzen möchte, folgt dem Hauptweg, der fast eben ins Innere des Val di Rezzalo bis zur Località Merlo führt, die über einen Picknickbereich und eine Quelle verfügt: Ein idealer Ort für eine Pause mitten in der Natur und den Farben des Herbstlaubs.
