Document{{en=Itinerary of good scenic and ethnographic interest, which due to its brevity can also be done with little time available or extended to Pisce' and Pian Gembro. The mule track (sign no. 352) slightly ascends through small terraced meadows, now gradually colonized by ash trees. While the economic importance of all the available hay was once significant, as it was used to feed animals during winter, it is clear how things have changed today; thus, now the forest is reclaiming the spaces that man once arduously conquered. Further ahead, the path carves into the rocky side of the mountain, and on one side you notice large structures supporting the roadway and, on the other, a vegetation peculiarity: the forest mostly consists of Turkey oak, a thermophilic plant unusual at this altitude. But the presence of rocks, southern exposure, good sunlight due to the wide horizon, and shelter offered by the mountain from north winds create a certainly favorable microclimate in this area. With some hairpin bends, you gain altitude until you reach near the watershed. Above the path, the entrances of some small tunnels can be seen. Don’t have a flashlight? Don’t regret it, your exploration would soon have ended since the tunnels are only a few meters deep. What were they for? During the 1915-18 War, this area was prepared with an additional defensive line against a possible Austrian invasion. Perhaps the tunnels served as shelter… This explains the width of the mule track we have followed so far, very different and better constructed than most paths found in woods. The path continues quite steeply among Scots pines. The reduction in steepness, together with the first fir trees, indicates approaching the end of the ascent. After passing a marked fork, you reach the summit of the Belvedere (1499 m), where the view spans the middle Valtellina and the Tirano mountains. Continuing for a few more tens of meters, you encounter the ruins of a military barracks, called ''Dicat'' here, which used to be a machine gun post. DIRECT DESCENT TO APRICA. Briefly returning to the marked fork, paying attention to signs, take the left path marked no. 351, which with a very long traverse to the left, first nearly flat and then descending steeply, leads to the Dosso di Aprica hamlet, just a few steps from the center., it=Itinerario di buon interesse paesaggistico ed etnografico, che per la sua brevita' puo' essere effettuato anche con poco tempo a disposizione oppure prolungato per Pisce' e Pian Gembro. La mulattiera (segnavia n. 352) sale leggermente in mezzo a piccoli prati terrazzati, oggi gradualmente colonizzati dai frassini. Se un tempo l'importanza economica di tutto il fieno disponibile era notevole, poiche' serviva a nutrire gli animali durante l'inverno, ci si rende conto di come oggi le cose siano cambiate; e cosi', ora, il bosco si riprende gli spazi che un tempo l'uomo aveva faticosamente conquistato. Piu' avanti il tracciato incide il fianco roccioso della montagna e vi si notano, da una parte i grandi manufatti a sostegno del piano viario e, dall'altra, una particolarita' vegetazionale: il bosco e' costituito, per la maggior parte, dalla roverella, una pianta termofila insolita per questa quota. Ma la presenza delle rocce, l'esposizione a meridione, il buon irraggiamento dovuto all'orizzonte ampio e il riparo offerto dalla montagna ai venti di tramontana, creano in quest'area un micro-clima certamente favorevole. Con alcuni tornanti si guadagna quota fino a portarsi nei pressi dello spartiacque. A monte del sentiero si notano gli ingressi di alcune piccole gallerie. Non avete una pila? Non pentitevene, la vostra esplorazione si sarebbe presto conclusa perche' i cunicoli non sono profondi che pochissimi metri. A cosa servivano? Durante la Guerra '15-'18 in questa zona era stata approntata un'ulteriore linea difensiva contro un'eventuale invasione austriaca. Forse i tunnel fungevano da riparo… Ecco spiegata l'ampiezza della mulattiera che abbiamo percorso fin qui, molto diversa e meglio realizzata della maggior parte dei sentieri che capita di percorrere nei boschi. Il sentiero prosegue piuttosto ripido tra i pini silvestri. La diminuzione della pendenza, insieme ai primi abeti, indicano l'approssimarsi del termine della salita. Oltrepassato un bivio segnalato, si giunge alla sommita' del Belvedere (1499 m), dove lo sguardo spazia sulla media Valtellina e sui monti del tiranese. Proseguendo ancora per alcune decine di metri si incontrano i ruderi di una casermetta militare, che qui chiamano ''Dicat'', che un tempo pare fosse una postazione per mitragliatrice. DISCESA DIRETTA SU APRICA. Tornati brevemente al bivio segnalato, facendo attenzione ai segnavia, si deve imboccare a sinistra il sentiero contrassegnato dal n. 351, che con un lunghissimo traverso a sinistra, dapprima pressoche' in piano e poi in ripida discesa, porta alla frazione Dosso di Aprica, a pochi passi dal centro., de=Route von großem landschaftlichem und ethnographischem Interesse, die wegen ihrer Kürze auch mit wenig Zeit unternommen oder für Pisce' und Pian Gembro verlängert werden kann. Der Maultierpfad (Wegmarkierung Nr. 352) steigt leicht zwischen kleinen terrassierten Wiesen an, die heute allmählich von Eschen besiedelt werden. Während früher die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung des verfügbaren Heus bedeutend war, da es zur Fütterung der Tiere im Winter diente, erkennt man heute, wie sich die Verhältnisse geändert haben; so erobert sich der Wald wieder die Flächen, die der Mensch einst mühsam gewonnen hatte. Weiter vorne durchschneidet der Weg den felsigen Hang des Berges, und man bemerkt einerseits die großen Stützwerke zur Sicherung der Verkehrsfläche und andererseits eine botanische Besonderheit: Der Wald besteht hauptsächlich aus Traubeneiche, einer wärmeliebenden Pflanze, die für diese Höhenlage ungewöhnlich ist. Die Präsenz der Felsen, die Südausrichtung, die gute Besonnung durch den weiten Horizont und der Schutz vor Nordwinden durch den Berg schaffen in diesem Gebiet ein sicherlich günstiges Mikroklima. Mit einigen Kehren gewinnt man Höhe bis nahe dem Wasserscheidepunkt. Oberhalb des Weges erkennt man Eingänge zu einigen kleinen Stollen. Haben Sie keine Taschenlampe? Kein Grund zur Reue, Ihre Erkundung wäre bald beendet gewesen, da die Gänge nur wenige Meter tief sind. Wozu dienten sie? Während des Ersten Weltkriegs 1915-18 wurde in diesem Gebiet eine weitere Verteidigungslinie gegen eine mögliche österreichische Invasion eingerichtet. Vielleicht dienten die Tunnel als Schutz... Das erklärt die Breite des Maultierpfades, den wir bis hierher gegangen sind, der viel breiter und besser angelegt ist als die meisten Pfade, die man im Wald antrifft. Der Weg verläuft steil zwischen Kiefern. Das Abnehmen der Steigung zusammen mit den ersten Tannen zeigt das Ende des Aufstiegs an. Nach dem Passieren einer markierten Weggabel erreicht man den Gipfel des Belvedere (1499 m), von dem aus man das mittlere Valtellina und die Berge von Tirano überblickt. Einige Dutzend Meter weiter trifft man auf die Ruinen einer Militärkaserne, die hier ''Dicat'' genannt wird und einst offenbar eine Maschinengewehrstellung war. DIREKTER ABSTIEG NACH APRICA. Kehren Sie kurz zur markierten Weggabel zurück und achten Sie auf die Wegzeichen, dann nehmen Sie links den Weg Nr. 351, der mit einem langen Linkstravers nach Aprica am Ortsteil Dosso di Aprica führt, wenige Schritte vom Zentrum entfernt, erst flach und dann steil abwärts.}}
