The ascent leads towards Boscopiano, the most challenging part of the loop, then continues to the historic Fraele Towers, recently enhanced and now easily visitable thanks to the Park's interventions. From here opens one of the most iconic views of Alta Valtellina: the Cancano Lakes, which can be enjoyed in a fascinating loop on a white road.
During the tour, the gaze stretches over the Plator Peaks, where in 2025 thousands of dinosaur fossil footprints dating back approximately 210 million years were discovered, making the area one of the most important paleontological sites in the Alps and among the richest worldwide for the Triassic period. This extraordinary discovery led to defining the area as a true "Valley of the Dinosaurs".
The route also touches the Corneliani Ironworks, a testimony to the local production history, before returning to Bormio along the comfortable cycle path.
The track is entirely on white carriageable roads with medium/steep slopes, suitable for bikers of all levels thanks to the use of the e-bike. The descent occurs mainly on the Cancano Lakes road, with the possibility of a parallel trail variant for the more experienced.
, it=Questo suggestivo itinerario ad anello parte da Bormio e si sviluppa lungo un percorso e-bike immerso nella natura del Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio, regalando panorami straordinari lungo tutto il tragitto.La salita conduce verso Boscopiano, tratto più impegnativo del giro, per poi proseguire fino alle storiche Torri di Fraele, recentemente valorizzate e oggi facilmente visitabili grazie agli interventi del Parco. Da qui si apre uno degli scorci più iconici dell’Alta Valtellina: i Laghi di Cancano, che si percorrono in un affascinante giro ad anello su strada bianca.
Durante il tour lo sguardo spazia sulle Cime di Plator, dove nel 2025 sono state scoperte migliaia di impronte fossili di dinosauri risalenti a circa 210 milioni di anni fa, rendendo l’area uno dei siti paleontologici più importanti delle Alpi e tra i più ricchi al mondo per il periodo Triassico . Questo straordinario ritrovamento ha portato a definire la zona come una vera e propria “Valle dei Dinosauri”.
Il percorso tocca anche le Ferriere Corneliani, testimonianza della storia produttiva locale, prima di rientrare verso Bormio lungo la comoda pista ciclabile.
Il tracciato si sviluppa interamente su strade bianche carrozzabili con pendenze medio/sostenute, risultando adatto a bikers di tutti i livelli grazie all’utilizzo della e-bike. La discesa avviene principalmente sulla strada dei Laghi di Cancano, con possibilità di variante su sentiero parallelo per i più esperti.

Von hier eröffnet sich einer der ikonischsten Ausblicke im oberen Valtellina: die Cancano-Seen, die man auf einer faszinierenden Rundfahrt auf einem Schotterweg umrundet.
Während der Tour schweift der Blick über die Gipfel von Plator, wo 2025 Tausende von Dinosaurier-Fußabdrücken entdeckt wurden, die etwa 210 Millionen Jahre alt sind. Damit gilt das Gebiet als eine der wichtigsten paläontologischen Stätten der Alpen und eine der reichsten weltweit für die Trias-Zeit. Dieser außergewöhnliche Fund hat dazu geführt, dass die Gegend als echtes “Tal der Dinosaurier” definiert wird.
Die Route führt auch zu den Ferriere Corneliani, Zeugen der lokalen Industriegeschichte, bevor sie zurück nach Bormio über den bequemen Radweg führt.
Der Verlauf erfolgt ausschließlich auf befahrbaren Schotterwegen mit mittleren bis steilen Steigungen und ist dank der E-Bike-Nutzung für Biker aller Niveaus geeignet. Die Abfahrt erfolgt hauptsächlich auf der Straße der Cancano-Seen, mit der Möglichkeit einer Variante auf einem parallelen Pfad für erfahrene Fahrer.
