The climb to Passo Gavia from Bormio is a journey through unspoiled nature. About 25 km long, with an elevation gain of about 1400 meters, it alternates challenging sections with brief reliefs. The road, narrow and at times exposed, crosses woods, pastures, and rocky areas, culminating at 2621 meters at the pass with a view of the alpine lakes. It is a climb that demands respect and preparation, but it offers unforgettable emotions.

It returned to prominence in 2010 with the Giro d'Italia passage. The climb starts already from Bormio, although it gets tough after Santa Caterina. Climbing steadily for a few kilometers, you reach the Roccette area, where you can admire the valley and the Forni valley, dominated by a vast glacier.

At the pass stands the statue of the MADONNA DELLE VETTE, called to watch over and protect cyclists.

La salita al Passo Gavia da Bormio è un viaggio attraverso una natura incontaminata. Lunga circa 25 km, con un dislivello di circa 1400 metri, alterna tratti impegnativi a brevi respiro. La strada, stretta e a tratti esposta, attraversa boschi, pascoli e tratti rocciosi, culminando ai 2621 metri del passo con la vista sui laghi alpini. È una salita che richiede rispetto e preparazione, ma che regala emozioni indimenticabili.

E' tornato alla ribalta nel 2010 col passaggio del Giro d'Italia. La salita inizia gia' da Bormio, anche se si fa dura dopo Santa Caterina. Salendo in modo costante per qualche chilometro, si arriva alla zona delle Roccette, dove e' possibile ammirare la vallata e la valle dei Forni, sovrastata da un vasto ghiacciaio.

Al passo appare la statua della MADONNA DELLE VETTE, chiamata a vigilare e proteggere i ciclisti.

Der Anstieg zum Passo Gavia von Bormio ist eine Reise durch unberührte Natur. Etwa 25 km lang, mit einem Höhenunterschied von rund 1400 Metern, wechselt er anspruchsvolle Abschnitte mit kurzen Erholungsphasen ab. Die Straße, eng und stellenweise exponiert, durchquert Wälder, Almen und felsige Abschnitte und endet auf 2621 Metern am Pass mit Aussicht auf alpine Seen. Es ist ein Anstieg, der Respekt und Vorbereitung erfordert, aber unvergessliche Emotionen schenkt.

Er erlangte 2010 mit dem Giro d'Italia Passage erneut Berühmtheit. Der Anstieg beginnt bereits in Bormio, wird aber ab Santa Caterina richtig anspruchsvoll. Nach einigen Kilometern stetigen Steigens gelangt man zur Gegend der Roccette, wo man das Tal und das Forni-Tal mit seinem weiten Gletscher bewundern kann.

Am Pass steht die Statue der MADONNA DELLE VETTE, die die Radfahrer wachsam schützen soll.
