Some walks invite you to slow down, breathe in the scent of the forest and see the mountains from a new perspective. The Path of Purity at Bormio 2000 is one of them.
This easy and enjoyable trail is designed to introduce both children and adults to the importance of water, biodiversity and the delicate balance connecting forests, springs and the Alpine landscape.
The starting point can be reached conveniently by cable car. In just a few minutes, you can leave the valley floor behind and find yourself surrounded by nature, following a shaded path through the forests of Bormio 2000.
This is where a small journey of discovery begins, one step at a time.
A walk that tells the story of the mountains
The Path of Purity follows the evocative Strada dell’Acqua, or Water Trail, a gently sloping route surrounded by conifer forests, open clearings and views of the mountains around Bormio.
Along the way, themed information boards tell the story of water and its journey through the Alpine environment: from mountain springs to forests, and the essential role it plays in the lives of plants, animals and people.
Children can become little explorers, stopping to read, observe their surroundings and discover that even something as familiar as water has a fascinating story to tell.
Where the forest meets art
The walk is made even more special by a series of wooden sculptures created by local artists.
Inspired by water, nature and the mountain landscape, the artworks seem to emerge directly from the forest. Shapes, animals and figures appear along the trail, encouraging visitors to look at their surroundings with curiosity and imagination.
Each installation becomes a new discovery and a perfect opportunity to pause, take a photo or let children share their own interpretation of what they see.
The result is a small open-air art experience in which the landscape is not simply a backdrop, but an essential part of the story.
A perfect idea for a summer day
The route is approximately 4 kilometres long there and back, with a gentle elevation gain, making it ideal for families and anyone looking to spend a few hours outdoors without taking on a demanding hike.
The altitude and shade of the trees make the walk particularly pleasant on warm summer days, when heading up to Bormio 2000 means finding cooler temperatures and a more relaxing atmosphere.
After the walk, the day can continue at one of the restaurants or facilities in the area, perhaps with lunch, a snack or simply some time to relax and enjoy the mountain views.

The Path of Purity is more than just a walk through the forest.
