From the Niblogo parking lot to Madonna dei Monti, take the S529 drivable road. Travel through the entire Zebru' Valley and reach the Campo huts and the Shepherd's Hut. From the Shepherd's Hut, continue uphill along trail S516, steep, winding up in switchbacks to an altitude of 2500 m a.s.l., where you can admire Cima Trafoi and Gran Zebru'. In front, to the north, note the rocky limestone face of Sasso Rotondo with the Volontari and Camosci passes, important routes to the Stelvio Pass during the Great War. Upon reaching the start of the former cable car at Rifugio V Alpini, continue along trail S516, where a steady climb between white scree and moraines snakes in switchbacks through a basin surrounded by distinctive towers with an almost Dolomite-like appearance. A final traverse leads to Rifugio Quinto Alpini. With care, it is possible to see some specimens of chamois grazing.
