The route starts in Arnoga, where it is possible to park the car. Here you take the flat road right on the hairpin bend, in correspondence with the signs, continuing for about 5 km on an asphalt surface until you reach Altumeira. Please note that it is possible to reach the Altumeira parking place directly by car, upon payment of a specific ticket or with the shuttle service active in the months of July and August. You then begin to follow the real path, almost entirely flat or with short stretches of slight climb, which leads directly to Lake Viola. The panorama that opens up to your eyes is immediately spectacular, with a view over the majestic peaks that dominate the valley. After about 25 minutes you come to a crossroads, where you need to keep right (the direction is however well signposted). Following the path with a constant slope, you firstly reach the beautiful alpine lake and immediately after the Rifugio Viola, at an altitude of around 2.300 mt. From here it is also possible to quickly reach the Viola Pass, which marks the border with Switzerland.
