The Orobie decauville once served to connect various dams and basins using special carts that ran on rails and transported people and materials. Today, most of the tracks have been removed, making way for a path ideal for trekking or mountain biking. The route presents no difficulties and is particularly appreciated in the summer season for the possibility, in a short time, to move from the valley heat to a decidedly more suitable climate. The route is flat, and the section marked in this classic itinerary is the one that connects the Gaggio location to the Briotti location. It is then possible to reach the Armisola alpine pastures or the Gino and Massimo Refuge, creating a loop described in another dedicated itinerary.
