After a short and interesting visit to the small but valuable 17th-century church of St. John the Baptist, continue along Via San Giovanni upstream and after a few meters you will encounter the ancient 18th-century lever press, a true witness of Grosio's working culture. Then continue northward on path N256, in about half an hour's walk you will arrive at the ancient rural nucleus of Vernuga Alta, composed of several charming pre-modern stone dwellings nestled on a promontory overlooking the valley. Carry on now at a higher altitude, still on path N256, until you cross, after about half an hour, path N254, which is immediately much flatter than the previous one and which will allow you to walk while relaxing and enjoying the splendid view of Grosio. In a few minutes you will reach the small rural settlement of Arsuga, where the descent path N242 starts, an ancient and narrow military mule track that will lead you in a few minutes to the Vernuga gunboat and, further downstream, to the two war bunkers of the Great War, before joining the via Rovinaccio (path N250) that will take you in a few minutes to the center of the village.
