World War I left many traces in the mountainous areas of Lombardy: even here, in the Stelvio National Park, where battles were fought at very high altitudes and under extreme environmental conditions.

Fascinating places where the beauty of the natural scenery contrasts with the tragedy of the events. The route starts at the third hairpin turn (2,588 m) above the Quarta Cantoniera on State Road 38 of the Stelvio (2,488 m) and reaches Filon dei Mot, following the left flank of the Braulio Valley.

Passing by Laghetto Alto and then Rese Basse di Scorluzzo, the route reaches Piano di Scorluzzo and Malga Scorluzzo, before ascending to the military outpost at Filon dei Mot (2,768 m); from here, continue along the easy and scenic ridge, overlooking the Valle dei Vitelli to the south, until you reach the last military defensive outpost (2,926 m).

The return follows the same route as the ascent; alternatively, once past the 2,926-meter mark, you can continue along the ridge—which becomes more challenging and features some exposed sections—to the summit of Monte Scorluzzo (3,095 m); from there, descend via an easier route to the Stelvio Pass and, finally, complete the loop by returning to the starting point, walking over grassy hills.
