This is a trail of great interest that exceeds 2300 meters of positive elevation gain in more than 32 km. The trail starts from Via Nicolò Rusca, behind the Church of Saints Gervasio and Protasio, and, passing through Via Scarpatetti, climbs to the hamlets of Ponchiera and Arquino, going through the entire Valmalenco, passing through its main centers (Torre, Chiesa, Chiareggio), to the Muretto Pass (2562 m). The trail then proceeds into Swiss territory, descending to Maloja (1815 m). The trail was, for the Italian section, renamed the Rusca Trail because from there, during the religious conflicts of 1618, the archpriest of Sondrio Nicolò Rusca was transferred to Chur. The entire bike and pedestrian path is marked with special directional and tourist signs. The route is passable by joelette without problems up to Chiareggio, while it becomes rather challenging from Chiareggio to the pass. In the photo section are the two complete maps of the route.
