The First World War left many testimonies on the mountainous areas of Lombardy: even here, in the Stelvio National Park, where they fought at very high altitudes and in extreme environmental conditions.

Fascinating places in which the beauty of the natural scenery contrasts with the tragic nature of the events. The itinerary starts from the third hairpin bend (m 2588) above the Quarta Cantoniera of the SS 38 dello Stelvio (m 2488) and reaches the Filon dei Mot, following the left orographic slope of the Braulio Valley.

Passing by the Laghetto Alto and then by the Rese Basse di Scorluzzo, you reach the Piano di Scorluzzo and the Malga Scorluzzo, and then climb to the military settlement of Filon dei Mot (m 2768); from here you continue on the easy and scenic ridge, facing southward over the Valle dei Vitelli, to the last defensive military post (m 2926).

Possibility to return by the same ascent route, once the military village is reached, or to continue along path S506 to the Stelvio Pass and close the loop by returning to the starting point.
