From Arnoga in Valdidentro, you reach by car or shuttle (see municipal regulation) the Altumeira parking lot. Continue on foot along the final part of Val Viola to the homonymous Refuge. From here, continue on trail N290 up to the border saddle at 2470 m. Entering Switzerland, follow the signs that lead to overlook the valley, characterized by lakes and conifers. With a wide turn to the north, pass through Pian de la Genzana, then descend to the terrace of Campascio. The trail, now steeper, continues near Lake Val Viola which has a tiny wooded island. Keeping to the right bank, continue touching Lach da Scispadus and leaving slightly to the left Lach da Saoseo. One last descent and you reach Longacqua where the Saoseo Refuge stands. From here, a dirt road closed to traffic crosses Val di Campo and descends to Sfazu on the Bernina road.
