Leaving the car, we take the Sentiero del Sole (Sun Trail), which, crossing the Bianzone valley, reaches the twin maggengo of Bratta, on its opposite side and still in the municipality of Bianzone. The valley has a shadowy and somewhat eerie heart, (the legend of the witch of Bianzone is set right here), but the trail's equipment helps us face it with a more serene spirit. In fact, in many places the trail is preciously climbed, and in exposed places the fixed ropes provide the necessary security. We thus pass, after an initial traverse, the Valle delle Gande, and then reach the main furrow of the Valle stream, at an altitude of 861.
Having crossed the stream, we have to surmount the rugged flank of a rocky spur, aided by the fixed ropes, and then gradually gain quieter places, in a beautiful chestnut forest, although a couple of other passages, made more treacherous by micro-landslides in the ground, are served by fixed ropes. Some ruins of huts, (Cà dei Gagiot and Giambun) still imposing in their wounded pride, announce that the maggengo of Bratta is not far away.
We come out, in fact, at the westernmost huts of the village, at elevation 973, and from here we descend to the paved road that climbs to Bratta from Bianzone, just below the cemetery and the huts of the Valbuzzi district.
