The road to reach the Dordona refuge starts from Fusine where you must purchase the pass. After a first paved uphill stretch, the road continues along the Valmadre on an unpaved, quite rough road: it is recommended to travel it with a 4x4 vehicle. It is suggested to go all the way to the end of the valley and park on the clearing near the hairpin bends (Suggested positions at coordinates N 46 04'07.52 E 9 45'55.22 or N 46 04'08.26 E 9 45'38.18 or adjacent areas). The ascent with joëlette towards the Dordona refuge (accessible) is easy and it is worth pushing up to the pass where there are still remains of World War I trenches, then return to the refuge and enjoy the view while eating the house specialties.
