Also mentioned by Leonardo Da Vinci in his "Atlantic Codex," they are located in the municipality of Piuro and are clearly visible already from the road. The stream of the same name originates at 3050 m, at Pizzo di Lago, and descending to the valley floor runs through two suspended valleys, both of glacial origin, at 2000 and 1000 m altitude, respectively. The Acqua Fraggia stream therefore forms a series of waterfalls of which, the lower ones with their famous double drop, are the most striking. The proposed route starts from Chiavenna, a town well worth a visit, and follows for a long stretch the cycle-pedestrian path to the Swiss border. At the coordinate point N 46° 19.559' E 9° 25.407' (waypoint on trail) keep left and continue along the path that skirts the state road. Shortly after, cross the state road via an underpass and you will soon reach the area with the waterfalls.
