Cima Branca and Monte Pasquale from the Forni

Wild, scenic route that leads from the Forni parking lot to Cima Branca and Monte Pasquale, crossing moraine environments and scenic ridges in the heart of the Ortles-Cevedale range.

From the parking lot, initially follow the dirt road to Rifugio Branca, soon abandoning it to ascend on a path toward the moraine cordon of Valle di Rosole. Reaching a wide plateau, cross a scree slope to the gully that leads to the saddle between the two peaks.

From the saddle you reach Cima Branca with easy passages over rocky cliffs. Back to the col, continue along the ridge of Monte Pasquale: the first section has I/II grade passages, sometimes exposed, that can be circumvented on ledges. The final part is steep but less technical.

From the summit, splendid views of the 13 Peaks. Descent along ridge and gully to Rosole Valley, with return via the impressive trench trail.
