Start ascending from Bormio 2000 1943 m trail sign no. 543 on the dirt service road for the surrounding ski facilities and reach the junction near the chairlift departure station called La Rocca 2170 m trail sign no. 542. A road continues right southwards towards Bormio 3000, while our route goes straight east still climbing on a dirt road until the evident trail sign at 2220 m where the single trail no. 542 begins, which will take us, after a fun ride with a slight ascent first and then a descent, to Monti di Sobrettina 2150 m. From here the direction changes radically, returning northwest on trail sign no. 543 dirt road, shortly leaving on the right the one that descends to Sobretta Bassa and continuing flat through the woods to Baita Pozzo dell'Acqua 2070 m. The relaxing ride must not make us miss the start of trail no. 522.1 on the right which at first seems nice and easy, but entering the dense woods becomes a descent made difficult also by the steep gradient. Upon reaching the road that passes through the locality La Poce we follow the same directions as route no. 16 to reach Bormio.
