A truly captivating gravel route that lets you discover some of the most spectacular spots in the Stelvio National Park, riding almost exclusively on well-maintained, vehicle-accessible dirt roads. The route starts in Bormio and immediately tackles the climb toward Boscopiano, the most challenging section of the entire ride, characterized by steep but steady gradients and a picturesque wooded setting. The route leads to the Cancano Lakes, offering spectacular views of the Plator Peaks and the famous “Valley of the Dinosaurs.”
The route winds between the spectacular Cancano and San Giacomo Lakes, passing through one of the area’s most iconic landscapes. The wide dirt roads that run alongside the reservoirs offer continuous glimpses of the surrounding mountains. The route alternates between smooth, undulating sections that are never particularly technical, making it ideal for gravel enthusiasts seeking a physically intense yet technically accessible experience.
After completing the loop around the lakes, the route passes by the Torri di Fraele and heads back toward Bormio, passing through the historic Ferriere Corneliani and winding through nature-filled stretches until reaching the final bike path. This route combines sports, history, alpine landscapes, and stunning views—perfect for those who want to experience the mountains away from traffic and more technical trails.
