Although it does not start directly from Bormio, the Mortirolo Pass (here in its more panoramic version from Grosio) is a must for those tackling the challenges of the Stelvio Epic Rides. With a length of about 12.5 km and an elevation gain of about 1300 meters, it features average gradients above 10% and stretches that exceed 18%. It is a short but very intense climb, a real "wall" that tests physical and mental endurance, but that offers an indescribable feeling of victory upon reaching the top.
Easier side, but not too much, to reach the Mortirolo Pass. It certainly offers an extraordinary VIEW, with typical alpine pasture areas, meadows and characteristic huts. It lives on reflected glory, but in any case represents a valid alternative for those who consider the real Mortirolo too difficult. In the last three kilometers the road overlaps the mythical route.
