The alternative route from Livigno to neighboring Switzerland via the Forcola Pass is an authentic ICE ROUTE. Given the starting altitude, the elevation differences are small. However, there are many professional and amateur cyclists who ride it in the summer months. After crossing the Italian border, one descends for a stretch into no man's land, enters Swiss territory and potentially climbs back up to the Bernina Pass.
