To reach the Swiss slope of the Stelvio Pass climb, when departing from Livigno, cyclists must use the bike shuttle service that passes via the Gallo tunnel. From the ancient town of Santa Maria, visitors wind their way through the Umbrail Pass mountain pastures ALONG THE BORDER of Switzerland and Italy. The White Roads are unpaved for a stretch, but the fi nish is regularly maintained. Vehicle traffi c is light, a great thing for cyclists
