Alta Via della Valmalenco stage 1

This is the first stage and allows you to take you to high altitude, to the foot of the Disgrazia mountain range. The route goes up the Val Torreggio valley to Rif. Cometti. The highest point of the route culminates with the summit of Sasso Bianco 2490m, a place that allows a wide 360-degree panoramic view from the Adamello Group to Monte Rosa, from the Orobie valtellinesi to the Disgrazia, and on to the Bernina. It is possible to reduce its length and fatigue by choosing, depending on one's needs, the ascent to the Piasci with private facilities or by taking the variant that leads from the Piasci directly to the Bosio refuge. Another variant is marked from the upper Arcoglio pasture to the church overlooking the Valmalenco.

NOTE: The road from Torre Santa Maria to Alpe Piasci is passable, subject to purchase of permit in the center of the municipality of Torre di Santa Maria at a price of 5 euros per day
