La Grotta Edelweiss è una delle pochissime grotte del Parco all’interno della quale sono state rinvenute delle incisioni attribuibili a pastori che, in
passato, utilizzavano questo luogo come ricovero durante la transumanza del bestiame. Qui, inoltre, come nella vicina area della Malga dell’Alpe,
sono state rinvenute tracce di presenza umana risalenti al mesolitico (circa 9000 anni fa).

Il Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio è uno dei partner del progetto Interreg “ArcheoAlps”.
Esso ha l’obiettivo generale di favorire la conoscenza e promuovere azioni di valorizzazione a scopi di mediazione scientifico-culturale e di sviluppo turistico legati al patrimonio archeologico collegato alle antiche vie di comunicazione nel territorio identificabile con l’antica provincia retica dell’Impero Romano, corrispondente agli attuali territori dell’Alto Ticino, Grigioni, Valchiavenna, Val Bregaglia e Valtellina.

The Edelweiss Cave is one of the very few caves in the Park where engravings have been found that are attributed to shepherds who, in
the past, used this place as a shelter during the transhumance of their livestock. Furthermore, here—as in the nearby Malga dell’Alpe area—
traces of human presence dating back to the Mesolithic period (about 9,000 years ago) have been found.

The Stelvio National Park is one of the partners in the Interreg “ArcheoAlps” project.
Its overall objective is to foster knowledge and promote initiatives aimed at scientific and cultural outreach and tourism development related to the archaeological heritage associated with the ancient trade routes in the territory corresponding to the ancient Rhaetian province of the Roman Empire, which encompasses the current regions of Upper Ticino, Graubünden, Valchiavenna, Val Bregaglia, and Valtellina.
