Bormio Civic Museum

Immerse yourself in history and art and discover what daily life was like in Bormio at the Civic Museum, located in the historic Palazzo De Simoni. Explore the extensive art collection of paintings, wooden sculptures, frescoes, furnishings, antiques and contemporary works of art. Discover ancient crafts and see horse-drawn carriages and stagecoaches that once journeyed over the Stelvio Pass.

Valfurva Valley Museum

At the Valley Museum in Valfurva, you can find a considerable collection of artefacts from the First World War as well as a working mill used to grind ancient grains like rye. Reconstructions of domestic spaces and the workshops and tools of local craftsmen also give a glimpse of what life was once like here.

Braulio cellars

A popular after-dinner liqueur, or digestivo, made right here in Alta Valtellina, Amaro Braulio was created by pharmacist Francesco Peloni, who concocted the secret recipe made up of 13 herbs and medicinal plants back in 1875. Today the liqueur is aged in oak barrels in cellars hidden beneath the cobbled streets of via Roma in Bormio’s old town. Guided tours are available.

If you love everything to do with rocks and minerals, don't miss this little gem in Bormio. Home to over 14,000 crystals and minerals from Alta Valtellina and all over the world, the museum was founded by Edy Romani.

Bormio Giardino Botanico Ph. Parco Nazionale Dello Stelvio (4)

Alta Rezia Botanic Garden

Come and take a stroll around the 14,400 m2 botanic garden in Bormio, home to 1,500 plant species – of which just under 800 are native to the Stelvio National Park. To whom do we owe this haven of biodiversity? Botanist Giovanni Fornarici, who created it in 1982.

Sondalo Sanatorium Museum

The fresh Alpine air and sunshine of these mountains were a real panacea for many tuberculosis patients in the previous century, who would come to be treated here. These days you can visit the museum dedicated to the construction and day-to-day running of what was once the sanatorium, now the Morelli Hospital in Sondalo.

Journey back in time at the Acquateca in Santa Caterina Valfurva. It tells the story of the mineral-rich ferruginous spring waters, renowned for their exceptional curative properties, which led the name of the village to be changed from Magliavaca to Santa Caterina.
