At 1,181 metres above sea level, the Aprica Pass is an Alpine crossing that links Valtellina with Val Camonica, in Lombardy. Since the Middle Ages, it has served as a strategic route between the Alps and the Po Valley, thanks to its gentle, accessible slopes. On one side, visitors can admire sweeping views over Valtellina and the majestic Bernina Range; on the other, the peaks of the Adamello Massif. Today, the pass is crossed by State Road 39 and retains all its scenic charm, enriched by a strong sporting tradition: the Giro d’Italia has made history here, with stage victories by legendary riders such as Marco Pantani and Ivan Basso.
