The route starts from the Altumeira parking, reachable from Arnoga via an asphalt road with a pass fee (daily tourist permit to be collected at the column located at the beginning of the access road to Val Viola. Those with a disability badge may transit provided the badge holder is on board). Alternatively, shuttle service every 30 minutes. The route develops along the valley on an easy surface, without particular problems, reaching after about 4.3 km the Viola refuge (numerous tables outside, refuge accessibility limited by three steps at the entrance). There is the possibility, continuing on the main route, to ascend towards the Viola pass and reach, after some hairpin bends, the Italo-Swiss border. From here, you can enjoy a remarkable panorama on the Swiss side, along the entire Val di Campo. The return is along the same route as the outward journey.
