The starting point of the route is located at the end of Lake S. Giacomo di Fraele, where the parking lot is located (see Focus On). One retraces about 2 km of the road on the right bank of the lake and, near a small bridge, takes the right turn towards Alpe Trela. The ascent to Alpe Trela begins with not very demanding slopes, which increase as the walk progresses; the greatest elevation gains are overcome with the help of some hairpin bends on the road, mostly dirt but paved in the steepest parts. At the end of the ascent, after a short almost flat stretch and after crossing environments of predominantly clear limestone rocks, the view opens onto the green basin of Alpe Trela's pastures, which is reached shortly.
