From Vezza d’Oglio you reach the hamlet of Tu by car. From here, take the dirt road that goes into a larch forest until you reach the Ponte dell’Acqua Calda over the Val Grande stream. After crossing it, you enter the Park territory; after a short steep stretch, you reach the comfortable mule track running along the valley floor among meadows rich in flowers from spring to autumn. Traveling along the very long valley, you encounter several characteristic rural clusters. The route continues fairly evenly through pastures alternating with larch woods until the Carét peat bog formed by the silting up of an ancient lake; continuing a short way more, you reach the Malga della Val Grande. From here the route continues on a path through high pastures up to the locality Plaz de l’Asen where the Saverio Occhi bivouac is located; at the head of the valley, in front of us, rise the imposing peaks of Punta di Pietra Rossa beyond which lies the Val di Rezzalo.
