The trail follows the Via AlbulaBernina starting from Piazza delle Stazioni in Tirano. From the tree-lined Viale Italia you reach the Basilica in Madonna di Tirano and ride up a steep path to the Romanesque church of St. Perpetua. You continue along a path through the woods, passing the border and down to RHB Station in Campocologno (1:20 hours). Hence a country road that sometimes follows the route of the railway leads next to the famous circular viaduct of Brusio (1:25 hours); the signs head to the railway station; as an alternative you can go along a beautiful path first climbing through woods and then along the road, leading to the village of Miralago. You can walk back along the same path or return via the Bernina Express.
