From Vezza d'Oglio you drive to the hamlet of Tu. From here you take the dirt road that enters a larch forest until you reach the Ponte dell'Acqua Calda bridge over the Val Grande stream. Crossing it, you enter the Park territory; after a short steep stretch you meet the comfortable mule track that runs along the bottom of the valley among meadows rich in blooms from spring to autumn. Traveling along the very long valley, one encounters numerous characteristic rural nuclei. The route continues fairly evenly among pastures alternating with larch groves to the Carét peat bog originating from the silting up of an ancient lake; continuing on, you will soon reach the Malga della Val Grande hut. From here the route continues on a path among high altitude pastures to the Plaz de l'Asen locality where the Saverio Occhi bivouac is located; at the head of the valley, the imposing peaks of the Punta di Pietra Rossa stand out in front of us, beyond which lies the Val di Rezzalo.
