The First World War left many traces in the Lombardy mountain areas: especially here, in the Stelvio National Park, where fighting took place. Fascinating places where the beauty of natural landscapes sharply contrasts with the tragedy of the events that occurred. To enhance this invaluable heritage, the Lombardy Region (DG Autonomy and Culture) entrusted ERSAF, in scientific collaboration with the Museo della Guerra Bianca, with a project to value the Lombard heritage of the Great War. The first tangible result of the project was the creation of thematic trails made using innovative technology with zero environmental impact. The six experiential routes offered allow visitors to explore in a new, engaging, and interactive way some stretches of the Italo-Austrian front and to learn about the war events that happened between 1915 and 1918 on the mountains of Stelvio National Park. Thanks to technology accessible to everyone, it is now possible to encounter fragments of history and nature, notice subtle details, and look around even while stepping back in time. Through the Near App, with your smartphone, you can listen, thanks to the voice of actor and writer Giuseppe Cederna, to the historical and environmental description of the places and the story of the events. Period testimonies are presented by the actor Matteo Chioatto.
