From the Stelvio Pass, where the highest museum in Europe is located, take trail S506 which climbs to the Passo delle Platigliole and leads to the summit of Scorluzzo at 3095 m. From the summit, descend the southwest ridge bypassing some broken rock pinnacles among which the Austrian defenses from World War I are clearly visible. After passing the last Austrian outpost, you enter no man's land until you reach the first Italian redoubt. Continue along the ridge to a new elevation marked by a cairn of stones. Here begins a system of walkways and stone trenches overlooking the Valle dei Vitelli. After a short descent, you arrive at a rocky spur transformed into a fortification by the alpine troops. Among the remains of barracks, descend back to the main trail leading to Malga Scorluzzo, then continue on trail S506 which reaches the IV Cantoniera passing through the Scorluzzo Rese.
