The First World War left many traces in the Lombard mountain areas: especially here, in Stelvio National Park, where the fighting took place. Fascinating places where the beauty of the natural scenery sharply contrasts with the tragedy of the events that occurred there. To enhance this invaluable heritage, the Lombardy Region (DG Autonomy and Culture) entrusted ERSAF, with the scientific collaboration of the White War Museum, with a project to enhance the Lombard heritage of the Great War. The first tangible result of the project was the creation of thematic trails made using innovative and zero-impact technologies on the landscape. The six experiential routes proposed allow visitors to explore in a new, engaging, and interactive way some stretches of the Italo-Austrian front and to learn about the war events that occurred between 1915 and 1918 on the mountains of Stelvio National Park. Thanks to technology accessible to everyone, it is now possible to encounter fragments of history and nature, notice subtle details, and look around also by making a leap back in time.
