The section described in this itinerary starts from the Dalico locality in the Municipality of Chiuro and ends in the Municipality of Montagna in Valtellina in the Santa Maria locality. This section of the Sentiero del Sole crosses 3 valleys: the Valfontana between Chiuro and Ponte in Valtellina, the Rhon valley between Ponte in Valtellina and Tresivio, the Val Rogna between Tresivio and Montagna in Valtellina. It is indicated on the signposts with the number 302. The first section up to the S. Antonio locality in Valfontana overlaps with the S. Italia (301) which then continues along the Valfontana road towards the Cederna-Maffina Refuge, while the S. Sole enters the right hydrographic bank, just after crossing the Valfontana on a recently built wooden bridge, through increasingly wild ups and downs. Let's say it straight away, despite the name it is a ''Wild'' itinerary where simple and pleasant sections alternate with more delicate sections in which the devastating passage of the Vaia storm is evident, which has forever changed the appearance of some of these enchanting slopes. We still consider it accessible to everyone, there are short equipped passages where it is sufficient to use the chains and pay attention as always in the mountains. In recent years between 2019 and 2021, work was completed to restore and clean up the sections destroyed by the Vaia storm: currently the path is passable although in some points attention must be paid as the slope is steep and the path width is quite limited. There is a desire to make it increasingly usable as it represents a unique itinerary of its kind, recommended for those who want to try an adventure different from the usual; the direction of travel is obviously discretionary: both destinations, starting and arrival, are reachable by passable roads.
