The "Sentiero Città Alpina" route is a 30 km loop, even more recommended if divided into 2 hikes, one on the Orobic side and one on the Rhetic side. Morbegno was designated "Alpine City" in 2019.
The route is centered in Piazza Bossi in Morbegno, also a local public transport station.
The passage points and places of interest on the Orobic side are: the historic center of Morbegno, the 16th century Via Priula, the Alpini chapel, the hamlet of Valle which at 840 m a.s.l. is the highest Orobic hamlet of Morbegno, Alpe Pitalone (1,334 m) with equipped picnic area; the hamlet of Arzo and - the first stop after the descent to the valley floor - the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin Assumed.
The path on the Rhetic side is more difficult due to some exposed sections equipped with fixed chains (south side Colmen). The route stops at Paniga and Desco, hamlets of Morbegno; from here it climbs to Colmen, a modest yet panoramic mountain ridge rich in wildlife and with varied flora. The descent passes through the rural nuclei of Cerido and Cermeledo and reaches Campovico, another hamlet of Morbegno on the valley floor, on the right bank of the Adda river. The last stop is Ponte di Ganda, the symbol of the Bitto city.
