Val Masino is known for its beauty, displayed in many side valleys and various landscapes. The Predarossa Valley is an exceptional example with its peat bog, larch forest, rocky slabs, the Refuge, and the high peaks, including Monte Disgrazia.
The Predarossa parking is the starting point - at 1,955 m above sea level - of this hike up to the Cesare Ponti Refuge at 2,559 meters altitude. The well-marked route crosses the lower plain of Predarossa, a peat bog, on the right side of the Duino stream which draws winding bends. The larch forest serves as a passage between the easy and flat section and the second more challenging part with the ascent - first zigzagging then easier - on rocky slabs up to the Cesare Ponti Refuge, built in 1928 and a base for ascents to Disgrazia.
The return follows the same route.
