The itinerary starts from Macolini (1656 m), a fraction in the north of Madesimo, crosses the stream and continues along the plateau formed by the river Scalcoggia. On the right, the path climbs in hairpin bends, to then go up a rib up to the Bertacchi refuge near Lake Emet, at an altitude of 2192 m. Skirting the lake on the left, you proceed to Passo di Niemet at 2294 m, the point where the border between Italy and Switzerland is located.
