Starting from Piazza delle Sei Contrade, follow Corso Roma eastward until you turn right onto Via Tonale. Continue at the intersection onto Via Ospitale; by the roadside are two fountains where you can fill bottles with excellent fresh water, and upon reaching the junction above the district of S. Pietro, turn left. The paved road becomes dirt just after crossing the Ogliolo bridge and begins to ascend. The views of Aprica, Pian di Gembro, and Mount Padrio accompany us on this simple and suitable section for everyone. Birches, firs, and larches along the road provide shade, protecting us from the sun on the more challenging parts. The road continues east, passing some mountain huts and without much effort, after some hairpin bends that allow us to gain elevation, we come to a fork.
We continue to the left where the road descends and crosses a small stream. (Turning right and continuing on the road westward leads in a few minutes to the small church dedicated to S. Giovanni in the locality of Bratte)
The road continues to descend with little elevation change at the forest edge, allowing us to observe from above the area of S. Pietro di Corteno Golgi.
At the junction, take the road descending to the left; after some hairpin bends, we reach the Colonia area and return towards the starting point via Via Valeriana and Via Europa.
