The route starts at Biorca and follows - on an almost flat path - the Tartano stream, to be crossed by the bridge in Barbera locality, a hamlet with all stone houses. The mule track rises through the meadows (the only real uphill stretch) then follows the livelier stream here: waterfalls, pools, and the Giant's Kettles, called "culdéri dèl fiü'm", meaning stream kettles. The route enters Val di Lemma on a dirt track, to be followed until the wooden bridge which is the gateway to the Orobie Botanical Garden managed by the Orobie Valtellinesi Park. The garden preserves plant species, some rare, of the Lombardy Alps in their typical habitats, such as the spruce forest and the peat bog.
The return follows the same itinerary.
