The walk starts at the beginning of Via per Motta and climbs up to Motta, a hamlet of Campodolcino, at 1720 m altitude. From there, you cross a larch forest along the Cappelletta trail. Once you reach Motta, follow the signs to Lago Azzurro, located at 1860 meters above sea level: in this section, the distance is 1.8 km with a 140 meter elevation gain. From here, you then traverse along the hillside to Alpe Groppera at 1908 meters above sea level before beginning the descent to Alpe Pianello at 1743 meters above sea level.
