The 3 Croci–San Gottardo Loop is an easy and enjoyable trail running route, ideal for those looking for a relatively short run around Bormio or who want to start getting familiar with trail running.
The route is about 7.8 km long, with 437 meters of elevation gain, and runs at altitudes ranging from 1,330 to 1,705 meters. The route alternates between secondary roads, dirt roads, and pleasant trails, passing through forests, meadows, and small rural hamlets on the Solivo side at the entrance to Valfurva.
The climb is gradual, allowing you to gain elevation without facing steep slopes or particularly technical sections. Once you reach the highest point of the loop, the route becomes especially pleasant and scenic before beginning the descent toward the valley floor.
In addition to its athletic appeal, the loop offers the chance to discover a landscape deeply rooted in the valley’s history and culture. Along the route and in the immediate vicinity, you’ll encounter small settlements, ancient rural buildings, and places of worship such as the Church of the Madonna del Carmine and the Church of San Gottardo.
A short but well-rounded route, particularly well-suited for a morning or late-afternoon run and for those who wish to alternate long high-altitude hikes with a simpler, more accessible trail.
