The Croce Valandrea ski mountaineering route is a moderately demanding trail that extends over 450 m of elevation gain. You can reach the start of the route with the free bus at the stop: Pontiglia/Taglieda. Once you reach the Scuola Sci Centrale, exactly at the end of the Lupigno playground, a route starts that leads up to the Croce del Valandrea. This route, marked with orange and blue signs, offers the possibility to ascend peacefully through a path in the woods, away from the ski slopes, climbing gentle switchbacks that will allow you to practice turns. Once at the summit, you can reach Rifugio Costaccia. For the descent, it is recommended to use the ski slopes adjacent to the route; the slopes close at 5:00 pm and after this time it will no longer be possible to use them. For those who wish to descend off-piste, remember the obligation to use the self-rescue kit composed of ARTVA, shovel, and probe, and to check in advance the snow quality and associated risks through the avalanche bulletin.
