Overall elevation gain, length, type of terrain, average and maximum slope: all the factors that make the itinerary difficult and complicated are here. We are at the limit of battery usage: if you are not particularly fit, it is easy to often have to use the medium-high motor assistance with the consequent rapid energy consumption. The road is paved just past the locality of Scessa at about 1300 meters. Afterwards, it continues to climb hairpin bends in the forest, quite uneven and rocky, up to the small Mara parking lot, now outside the trees. From here, there is a significant increase in slope with cemented ramps to the Mara hut and with even more uneven dirt sections up to the last traverse leading to the Gugiatti-Sertorelli Refuge. The effort is rewarded by stunning views over the valley, the Orobie mountain range to the south, and Monte Disgrazia to the west.
