San Colombano, Cerdecco, and Zandilla are three malghe (alpine dairies) along this stage of the Bormio 360 route. The trail allows you to witness all the activities related to the practice of migrating herds to alpine pastures in summer, and to the management of mountain herds. This hillside has interesting Larch and Stone pine forests, and the few clearings have been used since ancient times for breeding related activities, and it is not by chance that the meaning of the word malga also refers to the act of milking or to a mountain shelter for animals. The huts also served as a temporary resting place for occasional travelers, who could find refreshment, and perhaps, even a little company.
