It is a circular route 87 miles long with an overall elevation gain of about 6,200 m that traverses the mountain sides of the 5 municipalities of the Bormio area (Bormio, Sondalo, Valdidentro, Valdisotto, and Valfurva) at an altitude ranging between 837 and 2,462 meters above sea level, and it is accessible on foot or by mountain bike. The loop is divided into 10 stages, allowing users to pace their efforts and to complete only part of the route or to split it over several days by staying overnight in the mountain huts and shelters located along the path. Each stage is associated with a theme that refers, through specific signage and informative totems, to the environmental, historical, cultural, and natural features of the territory crossed. This project aims to promote a unique experience of recreation, physical activity, and contact with the territory. It is an opportunity to get to know the territory in its various forms and peculiarities, to experience its characteristics directly by sharing activities with the mountain farmers, to face environments that were once considered frightening and witch haunts, to breathe the oxygen of the forest, and to touch water in its different forms.
