Stelvio E-bike Tour: Bormio – Boscopiano and Cancano

This picturesque loop route starts in Bormio and follows an e-bike trail nestled in the natural beauty of the Stelvio National Park, offering extraordinary views along the entire way.

The climb leads to Boscopiano, the most challenging section of the route, and then continues to the historic Fraele Towers, which have recently been restored and are now easily accessible thanks to the Park’s efforts. From here, one of the most iconic views of the Upper Valtellina unfolds: the Cancano Lakes, which you’ll circle on a charming loop along a dirt road.

During the tour, the view sweeps over the Cime di Plator, where in 2025 thousands of fossilized dinosaur footprints dating back approximately 210 million years were discovered, making the area one of the most important paleontological sites in the Alps and among the richest in the world for the Triassic period. This extraordinary discovery has led to the area being dubbed a true “Valley of the Dinosaurs.”

The route also passes by the Ferriere Corneliani, a testament to the area’s industrial history, before heading back toward Bormio along the easy-to-ride bike path.

The route runs entirely on dirt roads suitable for vehicles, with moderate to steep gradients, making it suitable for cyclists of all levels thanks to the use of e-bikes. The descent takes place mainly along the Cancano Lakes Road, with the option of a detour onto a parallel trail for more experienced riders.
