Another long but low elevation gain stage that joins two important reservoirs for hydroelectric power generation: Lake Livigno and Lake Cancano. Upon reaching Lake Livigno, you walk along its eastern side to the bridge over the Vallaccia Stream, which you cross before taking the trail up its steep valley to Alpisella Pass at 2268 meters above sea level. Downhill you reach the source of the Adda River and Lake San Giacomo di Fraele, whose hydrographic right bank you follow until you reach the dam that separates it from Lake Cancano to the dam near which the Monte alle Scale Refuge stands.
