The medium-length stage with a moderate elevation gain that takes you into the heart of the high altitudes at the foot of Pizzo Bernina. After leaving Lago Palù, a short climb leads along the ski slopes which are followed downhill to the start of the chairlift that goes up to Monte Motta. Here you turn north and begin the long ascent that will end only at the Rifugio Marinelli Bombardieri at 2813 meters above sea level. Along the route you first reach Rifugio Musella and then Carate Brianza where it is possible to make intermediate stops. At the end of the stage, you can observe the high-altitude environments dominated by glaciers and Pizzo Bernina, the peak that exceeds 4000 meters and is the easternmost in the Alps.
